Bluebird Botanicals’ $100,000 Contribution Helps Conscious Alliance Feed Children in Need, Launch Capital Campaign for Warehouse
Bluebird Botanicals, a family-owned, industry-leading CBD and hemp company in Colorado, has donated $100,000 to support the work of Conscious Alliance, a national 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to aiding communities in crisis through hunger relief and youth empowerment.
Bluebird’s contribution -- the largest Conscious Alliance has received to date -- brings hunger relief to thousands of children. That $100,000 equates to the average cost it takes to provide 200,000 meals for kids. With Bluebird’s support, Conscious Alliance also recently launched a capital campaign to make possible the purchase of a warehouse facility to store and sort their donated food goods. Conscious Alliance believes in feeding kids, not landfills, and is constantly striving to work with like-minded companies to eliminate food waste while reducing hunger. While the organization moved $1.9 million worth of food and distributed over 703,000 meals in 2018, some valuable food donations were not collected due to limitations in warehouse space and funds for shipping. Obtaining a new warehouse facility will enhance the organization’s ability to accept donations from food makers, which helps decrease food waste and put food directly into the hands of the children and families most in need.
The Conscious Alliance community consists of artists, musicians, food makers, and music lovers who share a goal of ending hunger in vulnerable communities across the United States. Their work began in 2002 with the first “Art That Feeds” drive in partnership with the String Cheese Incident at the Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, CO. This event collected more than 4,000 meals for vulnerable communities and launched the movement that has evolved into all that Conscious Alliance offers today.
Currently, Conscious Alliance feeds 50 families each week through their local food pantry while also supporting 5,000 school-aged kids through outreach programs. Their model utilizes canned goods collected at concerts, funding obtained through poster sales, and direct donations from supporters and food makers to ensure children and families have consistent access to nourishing meals. Food is provided to economically isolated communities in need, including Native American reservations and rural areas. In partnership with more than 40 schools to date, Conscious Alliance takes a “backpack approach,” sending kids home with nutritious meals and snacks over the weekend. These take-home meals make a significant impact for those who rely primarily on school-provided lunches. This approach also strengthens student satisfaction and retention through promoting robust family-school relationships.
Hunger impacts 1 in 6 children in the United States, and Bluebird Botanicals has committed to working with Conscious Alliance to address this issue. Recently, several Bluebird employees volunteered with Conscious Alliance to help with sorting recently-received donations of organic baby food for local families. Those volunteer hours helped expedite the delivery process for Conscious Alliance, allowing families with infants to receive much-needed sustenance to support health and wellness.
The Bluebird Botanicals-Conscious Alliance partnership feeds directly into Bluebird’s mission to make a happy, healthy lifestyle radically accessible to all. Committed to compassion, Bluebird supports and works with local and nationwide nonprofits, infusing communities with the capacity to restore balance. Bluebird Botanicals also offers customer assistance programs and product discounts for low-income, veteran and disability groups, making our natural, effective products truly accessible to all.
