Bluebird Botanicals CBD Now Sold in Utah
Utah residents, we have great news: the CBD embargo is officially over.
The Utah State Legislature passed a law last year legalizing CBD oil and other hemp extract products with less than 0.3% THC. This came in conjunction with the passage of the 2018 Farm Bill, which removed hemp and its derivatives from the Controlled Substances Act, making it fully federally legal.
Utah is now allowing hemp CBD products to be sold and shipped to the state, as long as they have been registered with the Utah Department of Agriculture and Food. Bluebird Botanicals officially registered with Utah’s Department of Agriculture and Food this month, which means all Utah residents can now have Bluebird CBD products* shipped directly to their door.
Prior to the 2018 Farm Bill, hemp CBD companies were required to operate through state-run agricultural programs. Forty states, including Colorado, implemented such programs, and these allowed hemp companies like yours truly to sell and distribute our products nationwide.
However, a few states have had extra restrictions in place that have prevented us from shipping our products there. Utah was one of those states. In March of 2018, Utah enacted a law preventing the sale of any cannabis-based products except to terminally-ill patients with a physician’s recommendation. This forced Bluebird to cease shipping our products there while the Department of Agriculture stepped in and created a more structured framework. Now, the Department has enacted regulations that allow registered CBD products to be sold and distributed by approved vendors.
The department’s CBD registration process allows officials to verify all products are safe, free from harmful contaminants, and labeled accurately to ensure consumer protection. In a recent interview about this update, the department’s deputy director Scott Ericson said they wanted to ensure consumers are getting what they’re buying.
“You don’t want to buy something you expect to have 20 or 30 percent of something in the product and it only has five percent,” he said. “Is the labeling accurate for what they claim is in the product?”
Despite the complexities of individual state and municipality laws, Bluebird is happy to comply with Utah’s regulations because we value transparency and quality above all else. It is encouraging to see both acceptance and careful scrutiny applied to the industry in this manner because it ensures that safe products will be delivered to the people that need them.
We always encourage our customers to apply the same amount of research and label skepticism to their dietary supplements as they would to food. We’re proud to stand by the safety of our hemp extracts and feel confident that they will hold up under even the most intense scrutiny. We will always jump at the chance to work with government bodies and health agencies in protecting the consumer’s best interests.
Join us in our quest to make health and wellness radically accessible to everyone!
